Policy Priorities
The rules of the clean economy are being written now. Those rules are being drafted in Washington DC, in state capitals and in city halls across the country. They come in the form of policies that will affect our companies, our industries and our investments. As business people we need a window into those policies and how they are changing. Just as importantly, we need to provide business intelligence to policymakers in order to develop effective policies and avoid unintended consequences. The Clean Economy Network provides the information, tools and access to bring the voices of clean business leaders to policymakers.
Guiding Principles. The Network is guided by a set of baseline principles that are ends-driven and technology-agnostic. While each business or industry may have its own policy agenda, these Principles guide the Network to identify positions and priorities that will benefit us all.
Priorities. In the flurry of ideas and initiatives confronting clean business, the Network’s expert staff and board have identified the following policy priorities for the Network. The policy priorities represent areas of critical importance for the success of the clean economy and areas where Network members can have maximum impact.
- Pricing Carbon - Support an effective carbon price.
- Maximizing Stimulus - Work at the state level to effectively leverage public dollars.
- Federal Energy Legislation - Pass a comprehensive clean energy package now.
- Financing Clean Investments - Create a Green Bank.
